Student Work 2011/2012
We are entering our fourth year of participation in the Adobe Youth Voices Program (AYV). A CPS Initiative, this program supports teachers, middle school and high school students in the production of videos that reflect student thinking about social issues. At the end of the year there is a celebration event where student work in video and print are viewed and displayed. 7th grade students in Room 302 created short Public Service Announcement (PSA) videos about digital citizenship, and one was submitted and shown at the event.
The PSAs were also shown at Tech 2012, a yearly event held in Springfield, where students from all over the state have an opportunity to share their work with others, as well as see how technology is being used in other schools. Here our students are showing their work to State Representative Ann Williams and State Senator John Cullerton. For the past two years, students participating in the Chicago Arts Partnership (CAPE) SCALE after school program have mixed technology with creativity to develop stop-motion animations and original short videos. Our cooperating artist, Michelle Alba, has been instrumental in guiding students through the creative process. Thanks, Michelle! At the end of the school year, our SCALE students (5th – 8th graders) were invited to meet with Mayor Rahm Emmanuel and cellist YoYo Ma at City Hall to celebrate and showcase the arts in CPS schools. |
